There is no reason to add cereal and fruit to a bottle in the first place. Your child is too young to cut back on the formula.
Breastmilk or formula should continue to be the main source of nutrition. Solid foods at this age are mostly for fun and practice.
I would ask the pediatrician but she should still be drinking a good amount of milk. My son is 1 year old and he still drinks allot of milk (real milk). He can’t be with out it and he was always like that.
Every child is different but talk to you pediatrician. If your baby is gaining the right amount of weight and is not dehydrated it’s not a cause for alarm but ask on your next visit.
At 7 months your baby can safely be on 3 meals a day, use the bottle for a top up before naps and bed for the night, just make sure its getting a good balanced diet with fruits, veggies and dairy products. Intruduce one thing at a time so you know if baby will like it or even have a reaction to it. Untill baby is 1, dont give, peanut butter…honey….strawberries…or any other thing that you or the mum are allergic to…
Hope this helps
Hi try giving your baby the milk in a sipper cup it worked with my son hope that helps
true your child needs to have the formula but if your giving snacks/food/cereal then he will drink less formula. you can put his formula in a sippy that way he’s drinking it like a big kid. when you give him snacks make sure they are healthy so he is still getting his nutrients and vitamines (fruits vegies are great-you can make anything soft enough for child). stay away from putting things in the bottle…he will get used to the sippy (besides it time for that anyway).
Breastmilk or formula is supposed to make up 75% of of your baby’s diet up to the first birthday. The website below gives some information about solids.
Some people stop feeding their babies breast milk and formula at 6 months of age. As someone else said, just use it for a top up before naps and bedtime. If she is happy and not distressed or uncomfortable from the solids, and is gaining weight still she will be fine.
Formula really should be the main source of nutrtion until a year. But, i can understand her not wanting formula anymore, its pretty gross!
I would just make sure the food she is eating is really nutritious. Throw away the rice cereal and jarred food and give her whole oatmeal and fresh fruits and veggies. Iron and protein are also very important… you can soft boil eggs and feed her the yolk, or grind boiled liver over her food… Also, she needs a good bit of fat… have you ever given her avocado? Its a great source of fat and all sorts of nutrients!
Keep trying to give her formula, offer it before her solid food. Its the easiest way (besides breastfeeding) to make she shes getting most everything she needs.
