What should I make for a snack sort of party food?

Snack Foods
its about time asked:

My friends are having about 12 people over this weekend to watch a football game and just hang out (guys and girls). It isn’t football themed or anything, but everyone is supposed to bring a small snacky sort of food and that will basically serve as our dinner. First, I’m thinking the typical snack foods will not do for dinner, so I’m wanting to make something that seems snacky but is actually more filling (healthy if possible, but not necessary). Second, I’m not trying to go with chips, dip, a fruit/veggie tray or anything like that. Finally, I’m limited on funds and time, so something that takes less than 1/2 hour would be ideal. Any suggestions? Thanks!

make rangoons, of course you’d have to use their oven to bake them so that might not work.

Cheese and sausage always is good. Or just cheese and crackers.

Cheese and crackers are always a hit. You could go one better and geta cheese dip with crackers. Add pickles for a little variety and maybe some salsa.

Take a block of cheese, cut it down into thin squares, lay them on crackers and have salsa and pickles available, or have a cheese dip instead.

pigs in a blanket would be good……..so would stuff to build your own nachos

you could also prepare pizza toppings in individual serving dishes and allow people to build their own pizzas on either pita bread or plain english muffins and bake them. This is always a hit with my kids

You could make a big sandwich…

Buy a loaf of french bread, slice it in half lengthwise and add your favorite sandwich fixings. Then just cut it up into 2-3 inch servings. You could probably do the whole thing for @ $10.

Good luck!

get a pan of those small square dinner rolls in an aluminum pan at the grocery. take the whole thing out and cut in half. (use serrated or electric knife)
Spread with honey mustard and fill with ham and cheese.
-Mini Pizzas or Mini Burgers
-Pita chips and hummus
-smoked sausage with dipping sauces
-cheese quesadillas cut in triangles
-meatballs in crockpot with barbecue sauce, grape jelly and a shot of mustard
-also if you don’t have a lot of time, go to your local wal-mart deli, they have lots of things like chicken wings by the pound, potato wedges, pasta salad and are very reasonable.

You could make sloppy joes and keep the sauce warm with a crock pot. Don’t forget the rolls!

Or chili cheese dogs…

Or get some crescent rolls, hot dogs and American cheese. Slit the hot dog, insert cheese, roll up triangular shape around hot dog. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Reheat in microwave.
