The Truth Tonic asked: I was a gummi bear fanatic long before they hit American shores. I lived in West Germany and discovered them there before they were sold in the USA. (I still refer to them as goom–ee bears. The way they say it in Deutchland.)
Anyone else have a food, snack or candy they knew of long before the rest of the populace?
To the first poster: Are you just a little bit touchy? And thanks for answering!

mariners_fan_in_bend asked: I live on a pretty tight budget and it is hard for me to leave my work day to eat on a good schedule. I lose weight best when i eat abot every 3-4 hours. Buying expensive protein bars and what not makes this issue even worse. I know that fruit is a great thing but that doesn’t always make me feel full can anyone suggest and alternatives that I can do that i won’t get bored after a week or two?

My friends, i couldnt agree with you more, i hate imitation cheese, and i hardly ever eat it, and second answerer, i dislike sitting on couches, i prefer bean bag chairs. i dont like processed meats either, they are wierd, and seem to always be wet, no matter how much you dry them, they always have wetness on them, its wierd.

Zephyr asked: I need suggestions for foods that are available from major supermarkets in the UK, do not need to be refridgerated, do not need to be heated/cooked, will not melt in the heat (so no chocolate!), have a shelf-life of about a month (so no fresh fruit!), and come in waterproof and crush-proof packaging (so no crisps or nuts!), and can be eaten straight from the container/packaging.
I’m not asking for much, am I? :^D
It is going to be thrown into a rucksack and used only as snack food so does not have to be super-duper-calorie-packed energy bars. So far, all I can think of is Peperami!

B asked: Why is it that you never see overweight people selling snack/ junk food in commercials? I’m thin and I don’t have a problem with a person being overweight and I don’t discriminate. I have heavy friends. Who’s more likely to buy a soda, candy bar, or a bag of chips at the store? I’m not saying thin people don’t eat these things but full figured folks eat them too, we just never see them in the advertisements. What prompted this question. Is that while I was in the grocery store toady, there was a man behind me in line who was obese. He had a Party Size bag of Lay’s potato chips and a 2 liter Pepsi, which next to him looked like a snack size bag of chips and a 16oz soda.

akgirl asked: In my daughters school, we are responsible for bringing the class afternoon snack twice a month. No chips/chocolate/other unhealthy foods and they are peanut restricted as well. They suggest fruits, veggies, crackers, etc.
I’m curious if other moms may have some great healthy snack ideas (I love baking and make homemade bread) I was thinking banana and zucchini breads with some kind of strawberry butter or honey butter. Also some tortilla roll ups (they have a fridge for storage in the classroom) Our school does allow homemade items- it does not have to be store bought or sealed in any way.
My daughter said a lot of the kids don’t eat their snacks because they don’t like them, so I’m looking for some recipes that are tried and true with maybe picky eaters.
Thanks!
