Nabisco (i think) has the new snack packs, 100 calories, for cookies and cupcakes.

But I snack on apple slices with peanut butter, bananas, yogurt, nutri grain bars and sunflower seeds.

Making your own air popped popcorn let’s you control the fat and salt. I eat light, nonfat yogurt almost every day as a snack. It averages 100-120 calories and has calcium and protein. My other favorite healthy snacks apple slices with a spoonful of almond butter, green or red grapes, and celery and rye wafers spread with a little light herb cream cheese.

hmm… I find pumpkin seed are really yummy… but get them peeled cause they can be hard to eat… and unsalted.
Raw asparagus is also quite tasty, but it might be a bit of an aquired taste.

Natural is usually best.
Yoghurt contains microorganisms that help in digestion and aid in a healthier stomach. There are fruit varieties, but be sure to read the label–some actually have high sugar content.
Fruits that are high in fiber are also good. Carrot sticks are great with sour cream.
For dips, try using onion or garlic to flavor your sour cream or yoghurt. There are also some corn chips which are low in sodium and baked, not fried.

I cut up different kinds of fruit and dip them in yogurt, that way I am getting a fruit and a dairy serving.

Granola Bars! But not just any kind go with Nature’s Valley. Trust me you’ll fall in love. There are sooo many different one’s to chose from and they all fit your criteria in low in fat, sugar, and they contain many beneficial things. My favorites are: Oats N’ Honey Bars, or Fruit and Nut bars. Try them the Oat bar contains 16 grams of whole grain and only 180 calories.

Fresh carrots, celery, cucumber, the new lays baked chips, tortillas baked, and I love to take turkish yoghurt and add garlic and herbs or onion soup(just a few tablespoons) or 3 tomatoes(cut in quarters and remove the juice and seeds), place them in the blender with a little garlic powder, jalapenos and them chunk up. Eat that with your tortillas. Cashew butter with crackers or toast(good for those allergic to peanut butter). Broccoli/cauliflower lightly blanched eaten as a snack. Make your own black bean dip, cook them in onion and other vegetables in a stock until very soft, blend and add seasoning(garlic, cumin, salt, etc.) The same for white beans. Chickpeas, make hummus, that is also healthy and mixed with garlic and olive oil and sea salt. Use pita or a tortilla to eat it. Replace regular salt for sea salt, less salt and contains more minerals.

Snacking is the American way. We love our cookies, Twinkies and peanuts. Food manufacturers have carried the snacking craze to the maximum with snack pack pudding; snack size candy bars and even cheese/cracker snack size portions. The market continues to sky-rocket! Unfortunately a significant proportion of the snack foods have limited nutritional value. There is hope. If you are looking for a healthy snack that will pick you up and help provide essential nutrients try these:
* orange slices or other fresh fruit,
* graham crackers,
* baby carrots or other cut up raw vegetables,
* dried fruit,
* rice cakes,
* whole grain toast with jelly or honey,
* bagel with low fat cream cheese,
* salsa made with fresh vegetables or fruit,
* low fat cottage cheese or yogurt,
* fat free pudding,
* lower fat cookies such as fig newtons or vanilla wafers, and
* pretzels.

Watch out for new fandangled snack foods which are simply a marketing strategy. Read the label and evaluate the food. Be sure it is not excessive in fat content, and that it provides at least two important nutrients such as calcium, vitamin C or vitamin A.

Snacking is not a bad habit: making unhealthy snack food choices is.

I am in love with Kashi cereals! I pour a little on top of a small serving of vanilla yogurt and it’s very satisfying. You get crunch, yummy low fat yogurt, healthy fiber to fill you up and a big dose of protein. That’s what I’m hooked on at the moment.

I also love apples with a small portion of yogurt. When you get that sleepy feeling around 3 or 4 in the afternoon- that’ll pick you up and get you through it every time.

About 8 almonds, small portion of low fat cheese or low fat cottage cheese, and a cup of hot tea is always good, too. That’s my old stand by.

Whole wheat pretzels, a handful of grapes and a bottle of water is another staple of mine.

Good luck and happy snacking!

licorice, trail mix, hot peanuts and beef jerky, pineapple, lunch meat spread lightly withcream chs. then rolled like a taquito. You can add pickle to that if you like. Carrots,broccoli,cauliflower and green olives all go great with ranch dip. Hot suace sour cream and crumple your favorit chip in bowl mix and eat with a spoon. Tuna is good stirred in that. Cut the core from sn spple peel the top hslf of the skin off, pack hole -when you cut core out don’t puncture thru the bottom side-pack hole 1/4 way with butter the rest of the way with brown sugar and bake…um shoot I don’t remember how long or whatg temp. maybe you could find it on line. I can’t help wonder why you put the low sodium etc. weight or health issue? either way check into the health miracles from virgin coconut oil. Super! Cinnamon is another thing you should take in pill form or at least add to as much of your diet you can, hope I helped Bye. oh add lettuce to as much as you can too. coleslaw is also good. ok im done bye again.
