All food is eventually converted into glucose for energy. Fat is converted into glucose much more slowly than carbohydrate, so a snack that is higher in fat will provide a very slow, but much more extended release of energy.
Low fat foods are usually higher in carbs. Crackers, cookies, or ice cream, anything that is not meat, if it is low fat then the fat has been replaced with either sugar or a complex carb. This is to give it a better texture and to improve the taste.
Of course, if it is meat, then it will not provide a whole lot of energy for exercise purposes. Low fat meat doesnt have much added to it. Once the fat is gone you are left mostly with protein. And protein is not used by the body for energy unless you are very very sick.
The body burns carbs before it burns fat. If you eat a carb food, and then go out and expend energy, it will burn that first. It is burned up more quickly than fat foods, but a fat food would not provide you with the energy you want. Your body does not burn fat unless there is no carb energy to fuel it. This means, to burn off fat, you would either have to forsake all of your carbs before you go exercise, which is very unhealthy and will make you feel like crap, or you would have to exercise (aerobics) for like half an hour.
My advice, If you’re looking for energy, stick to the lower fat foods.
